The largest school district in Kansas has returned to the classroom but still has vacancies to fill. Wichita Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld said recently that USD 259 is starting the 2025-26 school year with less than 70 teaching openings, which is fewer unfilled roles than in years past. The district has open positions in teaching, substitute teaching, nutrition services and as paras. It’s holding a job fair on Aug. 20.
