Prescribed fires are an annual practice in the Flint Hills of Kansas. The prairie fires, usually in March and April, help manage the tallgrass prairie, but the resulting smoke can affect air quality. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment recently shared tips on how to stay safe and protect your health. If smoke is present in the area: ➡️ Stay indoors ➡️ Limit or avoid strenuous outdoor exercise ➡️ Close windows and doors ➡️ Stay hydrated 📷: KDHE & Applied Aviation Research Center at Kansas State Polytechnic #Kansas #prairie #FlintHills #fires #burn #drone #fyp #fy #fypage #foryourpage
